Iranian movie ‘The Badger’ has won a nomination at the Queens World International Film Festival in the US.

Iranian movie ‘The Badger’ has won a nomination at the Queens World International Film Festival in the US.

Directed by Kazem Mollaee, the film received the nomination for best film award at the 11th edition of the event.

The movie narrates the story of a 40-year-old woman, played by Vishka Asayesh, who is facing a difficult challenge in her private life.

Soudeh’s 11-year-old son, Matiar, gets kidnapped as she is about to start a second marriage. After considerable search and effort, Soudeh decides to ask for the ransom money from her ex-husband, Peyman. How much will this incident challenge her certainties?

In addition to Asayesh, the flick's cast list includes names such as Hassan Majouni, Mehraveh Sharifinia, Behnoush Bakhtiyari, Reza Behboudi, and Gohar Kheirandish.

The QWFF provides screening and professional development opportunities and an educational initiative for youth and seniors.

The 11th edition of the event is slated for June 23–July 3, 2021.
